Early preview. Kipso is a working demo with sample data. Play with it, tell us what you think, and if you want to use it on your project, let us know.

Who it's for

Three friendly stones looking over a site plan with roads and trees

For cities, counties and public agencies

Capital improvement programs, streets, facilities, transit and water projects: Kipso tracks each project's budget, checks contractor bills, routes approvals under your policy and writes the monthly report for council or your board.

What it does for you

  • Approvals that follow your policy. Dollar limits set once; each change order goes to the right people in order, and only the person it's waiting on can approve.
  • Every contractor bill checked. Each pay-app line is checked against the contract, approved change orders and progress on site before anyone signs.
  • Funding sources kept apart. Bonds, grants, utility funds and general funds tracked separately, each with rules for what it can pay for.
  • Budget and contingency you can see. What's committed, what's pending and a forecast of when contingency runs out, project by project.
  • Reports for council or the board. Budget, commitments, forecast and contingency every month, with a drafted plain-language summary staff review first.
  • Payments ready for accounting. Certified pay apps go out as a CSV mapped to your system's import format, imported by your finance team.

An illustration

For example

A city's streets program is paid partly by a state grant and partly by the sewer utility fund. A change order to relocate a sewer line can only be paid from the utility fund, so Kipso codes it there, routes it to the public works director and the city engineer under your dollar limits, and the monthly council report shows what each fund has left.

This page describes public owner mode. How the two owner modes differ.

Common questions

Is there a demo for a city or county?

The demo is a fictional school district, Cedar Ridge Unified. The way it handles budgets, contractor bills, approvals and reports is the same for a city or county, so it's a good way to see how it works.

Can it handle grants and utility funds?

Yes. Each funding source is tracked separately, with rules for what it can pay for, so a grant or a utility fund only pays for what it's allowed to.

How is it priced?

It's free during the early preview. We expect to price it by annual construction spend, with unlimited users, the same for any owner.
